I just started reading fruits basket. and i%26#039;m on volume 4 i think. y does kyo say sorry to tohru ?

kyo blaming himself becasue of tohru%26#039;s mother death. when tohru mother died kyo was there to see it all happen and he could have done something about it but he didnt want to. he was afriad that if he saved her he would transform into his zodiac and everyone will see. when tohru mom had her last breath kyo was standing in front of her.. and kyo though tohru mom said something to him like%26quot;WHY DIDNT YOU SAVE ME!?%26quot; kyo got afraid and ran out.. but really tohru mom said, tohru..... help tohru.. something like that. so kyo, blame himself for her mothers death and thats why he%26#039;s always sorry.
Reply:I think he said sorry because of something that happened in the past that is revealed in a later volume (I%26#039;ve read most of the series). Note that Hana said to Kyo, %26quot;Why are you standing before the grave with such feelings of regret? Chaos...%26quot; This could be hinting at the event that is explained later. You%26#039;ll understand when you read it (I think it is volume 16).
Reply:I think he said that because the reason Tohru%26#039;s mother died is because of Kyo. They met before and in the car accident, Kyo didn%26#039;t do anything to help. That%26#039;s why he was so sad in the mountains before and as shown in volume 21, he was really shocked and surprised when he heard that Tohru%26#039;s last name was Honda. He was really trying to forget that memory.

***The reason Kyo says sorry is because he knows why Tohru%26#039;s mom dies. He knows it all, the whole story why Kyoko%26#039;s dead, but Tohru doesn%26#039;t know that.


Kyo%26#039;s blaming himself he could have done something about it, Kyo could%26#039;ve reached for Kyoko, but he didnt want to. He was afraid that if he saved her, he would transform into a cat and everyone will see. Kyoko%26#039;s last words were actually %26quot;I won%26#039;t forgive you%26quot; Kyo thought that ment that Kyoko won%26#039;t forgive him for letting her die. But the reason she said that was to tell him that she wont forgive Kyo if he broke his promise.


Later on in volume 16, he will reveal the whole story... in his dreams. He tell Tohru why her mom dies around volume 20 or 21.
