is it just me or does anyone else see that fruits basket has a lot of incest in it.i love fruits basket but it all seems so...gay(except kyo ofcourse) plz tell me am wrong

I see what you are saying. You are looking at the Sohma name, and the number of %26quot;cousins%26quot; that seem to get together.





The Sohmas are a larege influential family in the anime, it is not uncommon for people in large influential familes to have relationships. Usually they are so distantly related that it%26#039;s just easier to say cousin and get it over with.





In the long run, they have old money and are only related by anscestory.





If you really want to throw it back, we%26#039;re all invovled in incest. Anyway, it%26#039;s all distant relations, like they all had the same Great to the 15th power Grandparents.





I had to look into it after I saw the episode about Hatori.

Reply:I think most of it-as most things are in anime-all about the fan service. It%26#039;s a Shojo series so you%26#039;re going to have a lot of pretty boys in outrageous or highly emotional scenes.


Ayame and Shigure%26#039;s flamboyant behavior is a joke at the more botton-down and serious Hatori%26#039;s expense. It irritates him and many others around them so they do it for giggles. As for incest,well, I%26#039;m leaning more towards unhealthy obsessions on the part of some characters. I doubt anything physical has occured between these characters but emotionally and mentally they are all entangled with each other in severe ways.


Relationships and emotions (particularly intense male relationships) are always showing up in anime which I think Westerners are not used to seeing--unless there is some sort of homosexual storyline or subtext-- so we tend to lean towards that conclusion.


The relationships are even more complex in the manga (and there are more characters that don%26#039;t appear in the anime), which I highly reccommend if you%26#039;re not already reading it. :)

No, I don%26#039;t think the guys in this anime are gays, but i think they look feminine, especially yuki. Momoji wears feminine clothes for a pretty deep reason, i%26#039;m not going to spoil it, so just watch it. Enjoy Fruits Basket.! It%26#039;s one of the best anime there is!

Reply:There is no incest I%26#039;m aware of, all the kids are from different parents and backgrounds- Kyo isn%26#039;t even directly related to his adopted dad. Think of it this way, as long as the outside Sohma are allowed to marry outside, it brings new blood in and a %26#039;cursed%26#039; kid can be from any Sohma family. My family is huge and I%26#039;m not really blood related to half of my cousins. It only seems like incest because they never move away from the family.
