later, %26quot;Wella%26quot; they suddendly appear. Where did they come from?
Where do fruit flys come from? They don%26#039;t exist when you first put the fruit in a basket %26amp; a couple of hours
Fruit flies are often encountered in and about the kitchen and near garbage storage areas. They are mostly found hovering around overly ripe fruits, fermenting materials such as left-over beer or soft drinks. They are often found in the kitchen, especially when vegetable or fruit (not necessarily over-ripe) materials are present. They may also infest the home through standing water like a forgotten mop pail or an open sewer drain.
Like all other flies, the fruit fly develops by complete metamorphosis. Eggs are laid near or on top of attractants (fermenting materials) such as beverages, decaying fruit and vegetable matter, garbage or slime in drains. The fruit fly is attracted to any area where moisture has accumulated including mops and wet rags. The larvae emerge from the eggs and feed near the surface of the fermenting material/s for 5-6 days.. Newly-emerged fruit fly adults are attracted to lights, but egg-laying females will not leave fermenting materials. The fruit fly larvae THEN CRAWLS to drier areas of the food source or even out of the food source to pupate. Under ideal conditions, the life cycle of the fruit fly can be completed in as little as 8 days. Life cycle from egg to adult is approximately 10 days.
This is the reason why we suddenly see fruit flies hovering around fruits although they are fresh and newly-put in baskets. The fruit flies you see might have emerged from their pupal stage while silently staying in your kitchen. So, go ahead and check around your house; you might have the said attractants in your kitchen or any place in your house that serve as breeding places for these flies.
Reply:Lol...it made me wondering too. But check this out:

The eggs of the fruit flies might be laid during the fruit growth or transportation. Then as the fruit comes to our home, it developed into fruit flies!!
Reply:I dunno - but I do know that they love beer or whiskey. To catch them - put out a plastic cup with a little beer or whiskey and they will drown in it! Who knew they were alcoholics? Heeheehee
Reply:they were there as eggs and hatched a couple of hours after they got to the fruit bowl. that%26#039;s why we are always told to wash our fruit.
Reply:EVOLUTION!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
