What does a 'basket of summer fruit' mean to God? Amos 8:1-3?

Dear Tina,

One of the greatest tragedies of the %26quot;church age%26quot; is that they have not understood what the Lord says in Mark 4:33-34. The Lord spoke in parables! And this is not only where God says, Hear a parable.... The whole Bible is written in metaphors and parables! Seondly, we need to follow the rule that the Lord lays down in 1 Corinthians 2:13... comparing spiritual things with spiritual .... That means when we study a word of theme in the Bible we have to look at everything the Bible says about that word or theme. For example, if look up the word %26quot;faith%26quot; you will find that it is a synonym for the Lord Jesus Christ. Go to Hebrews 11 and everywhere you see the word %26quot;faith%26quot;, put in Jesus Christ or Christ. You see the Lord is the ONLY ONE who is faithful.

In regards to your question, %26quot;fruit%26quot; is often refering to people who have been born again (saved) although I do not have the verse in front of me. Please look at Amos 8:11. God is telling us here that there is going to be a famine in the land of %26quot;hearing the word of God.%26quot; This is a terrible thing because an individual can only be saved by hearing the word of God --Romans 10:17. %26quot;So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.%26quot; There is much more that I can say but I want to point you to my references below. Everything on this website is free. You can download the items or call and they will send it to you. I hope this will help you.

Reply:This meant that as fruit was fully ripened by the summer sun, so Israel was ripe for judgement.
