I don%26#039;t have the money to buy any Christmas presents this year as I moved home to help take care of my parents. So I want to make bread baskets this year and then put fruit and or nuts in them.
I want one that is laced or weaved and then it has a braided top for it or what ever I can get. I need to know what the ingredients are that goes in the batter and how to make them. I think you have to bake them but not sure.
Does any body know how to do this? Please help me out if you can. Thank you.
How do you make bread baskets?

Reply:You use flour, salt and water. Cut them into strips and then turn a bowl upside down and weave the strips in a pattern around the bottom of the bowl. I would bake them at 325 for about 30 minutes . You might have to experiment a time or two to get it right.
Reply:I%26#039;m a baker in a grocery store and we make them every year. The braiding part would be the hardest. And you want a dough that DOESN%26quot;T rise very much. Pizza dough believe it or not
actually works the best for this. And if you want to braid it I would use a store bought Pillsbury pizza dough roll it out thin and cut it in thin strips. Weaving or braiding is just a matter of going back and forth with alternating layers. You need to lay the dough over a upside down baking dish of some kind. A cheep foil
cake pan or deep dish pan would work fine. I would start simple cooking the dough at various temps. and time to get the color and texture the way you want it first before you make the effort to braid or weave. A egg wash or oil wash (egg and water or oil to brush on the raw dough) may help to get a nice deep color and
bright shine. Good luck, start NOW. It takes practice.
