Is akito sohma from fruits basket gay?
Akito is female in the manga but the anime made a mistake and made her male.





Akito is raised as a man in the manga becasue of Ren's (her mother) jealousy of Akito. Ren knew that once Akito was born she would be loved by everyone because she was possessed by kami's spirit. She felt that Akito had taken first place in Akira's (her father) heart, a place that Ren had once held. It's pretty safe to assume that Ren thought this love Akira had for his daughter was more than paternal, considering her resulting action was to raise Akito as male from the moment she was born. The cover story she told Akira (who was the current head of the family) was that it would be easier to have a male heir than a female one. Of course, Shigure could easily see she was lying even though he was a child.


On the night she was conceived Shigure, Ayame, Hatori, Kureno and Ritsu all had a dream in which they saw Akito as a woman fully grown but transparent saying they would meet soon. It's obvious by chapter 133 that Ritsu doesn't remember this dream like the others did because of his shock at Akito dressing as a female for the first time. (He thinks Akito had become like him and wanted to dress as a woman.)





Tooru ends up with Kyou as expected. Shigure has been dating Akito since before the series began and stays with her until the end of the series. Akito once had a one nighter with Kureno and Shigure then slept with Ren but they stayed together even after that. Before the meeting where Akito reveals to everyone she is female Shigure gives her a flowery Kimono that she then wears to the meeting.

Reply:In the anime he is a man, but in the manga he is a woman (he just dresses like a man). So technically he's not gay.

Akito is a woman.. she had been dressing as a man cus their parents had been wanting their child to be a man, cus the 'god' of jyuunishi is suppose to be a man and all.. but this very dark secret at first was only known to Kureno (rooster in manga), Shigure (dog), and Hatori (sea dragon)





then Kureno told Tohru, then Akito finally confessed to everyone, and she ended up with.... hm.. i guess i shouldn't said too much huh XD

but in the manga he is a woman in disguise due to his mothers wishes.
