Is akito sohma from fruits basket gay?
Akito is female in the manga but the anime made a mistake and made her male.
Akito is raised as a man in the manga becasue of Ren's (her mother) jealousy of Akito. Ren knew that once Akito was born she would be loved by everyone because she was possessed by kami's spirit. She felt that Akito had taken first place in Akira's (her father) heart, a place that Ren had once held. It's pretty safe to assume that Ren thought this love Akira had for his daughter was more than paternal, considering her resulting action was to raise Akito as male from the moment she was born. The cover story she told Akira (who was the current head of the family) was that it would be easier to have a male heir than a female one. Of course, Shigure could easily see she was lying even though he was a child.
On the night she was conceived Shigure, Ayame, Hatori, Kureno and Ritsu all had a dream in which they saw Akito as a woman fully grown but transparent saying they would meet soon. It's obvious by chapter 133 that Ritsu doesn't remember this dream like the others did because of his shock at Akito dressing as a female for the first time. (He thinks Akito had become like him and wanted to dress as a woman.)
Tooru ends up with Kyou as expected. Shigure has been dating Akito since before the series began and stays with her until the end of the series. Akito once had a one nighter with Kureno and Shigure then slept with Ren but they stayed together even after that. Before the meeting where Akito reveals to everyone she is female Shigure gives her a flowery Kimono that she then wears to the meeting.

Akito is a woman.. she had been dressing as a man cus their parents had been wanting their child to be a man, cus the 'god' of jyuunishi is suppose to be a man and all.. but this very dark secret at first was only known to Kureno (rooster in manga), Shigure (dog), and Hatori (sea dragon)
then Kureno told Tohru, then Akito finally confessed to everyone, and she ended up with.... hm.. i guess i shouldn't said too much huh XD

Hi, I have recently developed an interest for anime and after watching the series "Fruits Basket" I would love to read the books, or manga's as I have found out they are called. I am so confused with the whole manga thing... never really taking an interest before hand. How many Manga's are there for "Fruits Basket" and can some be found in English? and where could I purchase them?

I've tried YouTube, which pretty much has nothing in the way of Fruits Basket episodes. I'd rather not download them. But I'm hoping someone can tell me a website where I can watch them online for free with english subs. I can't watch the dubbed over episodes because Tohru and everybody else's voice bothers me in English. I'm being picky, but I just prefer the Japanese version for this anime.

You should consider getting Net Flicks, becuase its a whole lot cheaper then renting movies from a rental store, and they have the first 26 episodes of Fruits Basket (which is totally awesome!)

Reply:Well...I don't know of any place you can watch it for free. I would keep my on the "Anime Network" channel, to see if it comes in anytime soon (assuming that you have that channel.) Other than that you either have to buy them (they're really expensive), or you can order them from Net Flicks. You should consider getting Net Flicks, becuase its a whole lot cheaper then renting movies from a rental store, and they have the first 26 episodes of Fruits Basket (which is totally awesome!)

I finished watching Fruits Basket and want to start on the manga where do I start?
Fruits Basket episodes ended just after Tohru found out about Kyo's other form (ep 26). I want to continue in the manga. I went to www.mangavolume.com but I can't seem to find the proper chapter. Does anyone know where I should start? Thanks

From what I can find on the net at this particular moment, you've been had, m'dear. There were reasons (read:errors) why a second season couldn't be done, if I recall.
I don't think one would be started without a place to send it on it's completion, whether to television or to DVD as OAVs.
Reply:i don't think this info is right.. from what i've read, the plot in the anime is quite different in the manga especially in the end portion.. i don't think that tv tokyo would make the anime all over again just to adjust the story on the last part.. and besides, if the said news is true, why is the 2nd season is really wayy too late when the manga itself was finished already.. i mean, the manga was finished almost a year ago.

however, i'll appreciate if there would be a season two in the fruits basket..

Reply:I can't find any official new reports to confirm that and I went back to Aug on press releases. I honestly think the only reason that Tokyo TV would reject a Fruits Basket series would be if it were poorly done and in that case that would be a good thing, don't you think? Perhaps it was a concept that was rejected and they are back to the drawing board. I don't know. I really hope that they make and release a new season myself, and I know that there are many other fans out here that hope so as well. Let's all hope that it will come out by the next season anyway!

Fruits Basket, or Furuba has always been the top selling english manga and it is even ranked #29 on USA Today's Booklist for the week ending August 6, 2006. Is this reasonable and do you think it deserves the reputation among other mangas?

Fruits Basket, in my opinion, is NOT over-rated, but Tokyopop takes so long to release each volume that I've lost 99.9% of my interest in it...
Compared to mangas like Petshop of Horrors, DN Angel, and Hellsing, however, Fruits Basket does not put up a fair fight to me, and it does not deserve its reputation. This is simply because A) the anime was WRETCHEDLY bad, B) the art style never stays the same throughout the entire series, and C) as I've mentioned before, Tokyopop takes too long releasing the volumes, and interest is being lost...
If there's any manga that deserves the reputation of Fruits Basket (or Furuba, as the fans call it), I say it's Hellsing or Petshop of Horrors... But this is my opinion, so it may not matter anyway...

Why isn't Fruits Basket anime...?
Why isn' Fruits Basket coming out with another season? I liked it, and I thought it was really popular! Can anyone help me out?

There could be many reasons to this:
1. the company who produced the anime doesn't have enough money.
2. the manga artist choses not to
3. the first season (of furuba) was somewhat unpopular in Japan
4. I heard that one of the people who did the voice of one of characters retired.

In Japan, the way they do their shows is different than the way
it is done in America. My favorite anime now made is
CINDERELLA BOY, the Monkey Punch one, but that only went

Why isn't Fruits Basket anime...?
There could be many reasons to this:
1. the company who produced the anime doesn't have enough money.
2. the manga artist choses not to
3. the first season (of furuba) was somewhat unpopular in Japan
4. I heard that one of the people who did the voice of one of characters retired.

I don't know about Perfect Girl Revolution, but the anime for Fruits Basket ends at volume 6, so you should start reading from volume 7 onwards. The manga series has ended and the last volume is 23. Hope you like this manga! It's one of my favourites :)

Who's your favorite character(s) in the manga "Fruits Basket"? I love Kyo and his attitude but I think Haru is my favorite!! Well, I'm stuck between them, they're both cool and good looking. Yuki, too, but he's my second favorite. Oh ya, and Tohru, she's REALLY kind, it really is something you would get attracted to. I don't think she has ever gotten angry in the book O_o.

I just want to know if anyone reads Fruits Basket manga, and if you like it, how many you've read, etc. I have read up to #8. Whoever doesn't know, who do you think Tohru will end up with? Anyway, I know who she'll end up with, but when I didn't know I thought that she would end up with Yuki in the beginning of the manga. But as I kept reading I noticed that Tohru opens up to Kyo more and they both understand each other very well..so I kind of changed my mind and thought that she would end up with Kyo. But she's really close to both of them so I really didn't know who she would end up with! It was like 50/50 between Yuki and Kyo D=
But personally, I did want Tohru to end up with Kyo =)
'Cause they both match personality wise ^^ (Even though Kyo can get a little violent..well maybe a lot sometimes o_O I love him anyway! XD)
Yuki and Tohru look good together but they're not really the right match for each other..hehe ^^

I don't think so, I watched both. Fruits Basket is one of the better English dubs in my opinion. I don't think FUNimation takes things out like 4kids does. The voices are okay too, Yuki's voice sounds more feminine in the sub. It's not too bad.

I am going to the library today for my first time reading manga. I think I am getting Fruits Basket. The first volume isnt available. Do you have to read Fruits Basket in order?

It is one long extended story so yes, I'd recommend it. You'd really want to follow the relationships between the characters as they build from the start.
Reply:You definitely have to read it in order. I did not get a SINGLE thing at first when i started at the 3rd book. And if you cant find the volumes.. you can always just download it from stoptazmo.com. :D Its still being continued... so yea... there are over 18 books now.... O.O

Yep, I'm asking for spoilers here!
Everything that's Fruits Basket is licensed, I don't have a cent to myself, and I'm dying to know where everything is at right now.
I watched 10 episodes of Fruits Basket and read a volumn of the manga at a friend's house... that's how I know who my nickname's namesake is ^_~
So please spoil away and don't leave me hanging there! I can't wait the four years until I get to university and save up enough money to buy the set hehehe.

Yuki ends up with a girl named Machi who is not in the Anime! Kureno... the rooster's curse is broken. Then she went to the sohma house and face to face with akito. Then akito ask why she came, her answer: I don't know.... Then Akito went mad and pull her hair and say" You think you can get the family's curse went off!?? You cant!!! " And then Tohru say that everyone will feel sad if akito died. The manga is still going on. It's up to about book 14 in the USA, but it's also still going on in Japan. If you can't afford to buy it, just go to a book store, like barnes and noble. I've sat there and read manga without buying anything. A lot of people do this. I can't figure out why the store allows it.
As for spoilers, read what the others wrote. The other things I have to add is that Rin is on a mission to break the curse, and that her back story is very sad.

Anyway, it shows that after Kyo reveals his 3rd form to Tohru and Yuki, Tohru pays a visit to Akito. She agitates him(or her actually as we later fiond out in the manga) but it yet still allowed to live together in Shigure's house. it's an abrupt and uncertain ending.
Whereas, the manga goes on much much further and reveals more of the curse. The most recent chapters shows the manga at the verge of ending as most couples, ie-Yuki and Machi, Kyo and Tohru, Kureno and Uo being together. There should only be about a couple more chapters for Takaya-sensei to tie up the loose ends.
Among the other things are, the appearances of Rin the horse, Kureno the bird, the broken curse which binds Kureno, Momiji and Hiro. The fact that Akito was a girl but raised as a boy due to her jealous mother, Ren. How Kyo was present at the accident scene of Kyoko but couldn't do anything to save her. Tohru falling off a cliff, Akito becoming a newer and much better person.
Reply:It hasn't ended yet. It's still going. Just so you know, the anime is waaayyyy different from the manga. in the manga, Haru is in love with Rin, anime version is that Haru is in love with yuki. i do have some spoilers through.
